Avoriaz - 2019
A brief trip, Easter 2019

The novice
'Plus One' complained that 'the snow is so slippery' and if ever there was an example of a struggle in the face of (perceived?) adversity, this was it.

It became clear that the combination of fear of falling, together with perhaps not enough preparation for the trip, and hence a lack of physical strength, sadly were making the complete first-time skiing experience a very challenging one.

Impatient tutoring probably didn't help; maybe professional ski lessons would have been a better tack to take. And so sadly, Plus One didn't make much progress in the few days he was on the snow. We tried hard to get him going, but this time, it wasn't to be.

Two-In-The-Snow were 'Plus One' to catch the last week of the season at Avoriaz in 2019.

This year, we took a novice with us. He tried hard, but his legs weren't expecting the challenge, we think, so found it tough going - says he'll try harder next year!

We set up 'Plus One' with boots and skis, spent the first morning teaching him how to 'snow-plough' - at least we tried - left him in a heap in the snow, and the 'Two' went skiing.

So mostly, we were Two-in-the-Snow for just a few days before the 2019 Easter weekend.
Terrific 'neige de printemps', soft in the resort but brilliant higher up - crisp and easy to get on the edges of the skis. So carve, carve, carve! New skis too - very quick. The best day was Wednesday - awesome snow, brilliant skiing - the video clips testify to the facts.

With just 4 days skiing, we trekked homeward, diverting briefly to admire Lac Léman (Lake Geneva) at the delightful, Evian-les-Bains.
